SMA Solar Technology has announced the European launch of its new MVPS-9200 containerised medium-voltage station, designed for battery energy storage systems (BESS) and utility-scale photovoltaic plants. The solution expands SMA’s options for large energy projects by offering a “turnkey” unit that combines several key components into a single container.
The 12-m station includes two high-performance inverters, two transformers, and a medium-voltage distribution system. By delivering double the electrical capacity within one container, it helps EPCs and developers streamline project design and installation.
The MVPS-9200 is manufactured in Europe, following a development partnership with Italian firm CEP, which contributes expertise in medium-voltage equipment.
Built for large infrastructure projects operating at 1500 V DC, the station is designed to ensure high availability, reduce operational costs, and support efficient production scheduling. Depending on the setup, it can integrate Sunny Central UP inverters for solar projects, or Sunny Central Storage UP and UP-S inverters for BESS plants. The Sunny Central UP-S version uses SiC-MOSFET technology to reduce energy losses.
Offered in power classes from MVPS-5860 to MVPS-9200, the solution also improves maintainability. Its four-field medium-voltage distribution layout allows half of the system power to remain available during maintenance activities, supporting more flexible plant operation.
