Poland, Katowice: Polish energy company Tauron Zielona Energia has signed an agreement to build the Miejska Górka wind farm project with a target capacity of roughly 190 MW. The project, worth PLN 2 billion ($500 million) is set to be completed in 2027 and could meet the energy demand of almost 200 thousand households. It will be located in the Rawicz district of the Wielkopolska province. It consists of 53 turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.6 MW and a height of 134 m, making it Tauron’s largest onshore installation investment in the country. The project is in the construction readiness phase, and the first works on the farm are to begin in the coming weeks.

Michał Orłowski, vice-president of Tauron Polska Energia for Asset Management and Development, said: “Wind farms are an important element of the decarbonization of the Tauron Group’s generation mix. The electricity production profile of wind farms is a good complement to the energy consumption profile of end users, who increasingly produce energy from photovoltaics themselves.”
