Germany, Ottobrunn: TE Connectivity and CNIguard announced a partnership to enhance real-time monitoring for overhead and underground power grids. The collaboration integrates TE’s grid connectivity solutions with CNIguard’s Industrial IoT platform, providing utilities with end-to-end visibility, predictive maintenance capabilities, and faster fault detection.

As utilities expand infrastructure to meet growing energy demand and integrate renewable sources, they face challenges such as aging grids, extreme weather, and underground monitoring. TE’s smart grid solutions, which can be retrofitted onto existing equipment, will now leverage CNIguard’s platform to deliver real-time data, safety monitoring, and analytics. This will help utilities identify cable faults, detect hazardous gas levels, and locate overheating components, improving grid reliability and response times.

TE has expanded its smart grid technology portfolio following its January 2023 acquisition of Kries, increasing production capacity to support modern grid demands. The partnership with CNIguard now enables a fully digital grid monitoring solution that integrates with existing utility operations systems. Both companies provide ruggedized, IP68-rated hardware to withstand harsh conditions, with CNIguard’s ISO 27001-certified architecture ensuring data security.

The combined solution will support utilities in shifting from reactive to predictive maintenance, reducing costs and minimizing unplanned outages in both urban and remote areas.
