Brazil, São Paulo: Toyota has announced a restructuring plan for its plant in Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil, aiming to concentrate its entire production chain in a single location. The new complex will house stamping, bodywork, and complete vehicle assembly units.

WEG supplied Toyota with dry-type transformers totalling over 45 MVA of power as part of Project ON 09400 – TOYOTA DO BRASIL LTDA, one of the Japanese automaker’s largest investments in Brazil, focused on consolidating the production of hybrid flex-fuel vehicles in the country. The transformers will play a key role in the electrical infrastructure of the new plant. Some will be exclusively dedicated to powering the welding robots, featuring specific electrical characteristics tailored for this application, while others will operate as step-down transformers, ensuring a continuous and reliable energy supply for all other industrial processes.

The choice of WEG’s dry-type transformers reflects their suitability for specialized applications requiring advanced engineering and technology. With this supply, WEG continues its involvement in the industrial segment, providing equipment designed to support specific and customized processes, with a focus on energy efficiency and the evolving needs of the automotive industry in the Brazilian market.
