USA, Colorado, Denver: On March 12, the Denver Fire Department (DFD) responded to a fire near the Eastern Star Masonic Retirement Campus.
A transformer caught fire near the Eastern Star Masonic Retirement Campus. An explosion was also reported inside the building. A transformer had caught fire, but the flames had not reached the facility.
The DFD reported that construction was underway at the time and a power line was accidentally struck which resulted in the explosion and fire.
People needed immediate care, and crews were able to quickly work with Denver Health and other EMS agencies to transport them as quickly as possible,” said Luis Cedillo, DFD captain.
Eight people were transported to a hospital, two were evaluated at the scene and cleared, and 87 people have been displaced.
The department did not have information on any injuries. A staff member at the facility told the reporter that those hospitalised were all staff members.
At the time of publishing, residents were not allowed back inside, and it was not clear when or if they would be allowed to do so.
