US, Virginia: One person is injured after a Thursday morning transformer explosion in Lynchburg, VA, USA, according to the town’s fire department. Firefighters reported that a transformer exploded and caught fire in the Reusens Road and Hydro Street area, knocking one person to the ground. The injured person was then transported to the hospital.
Surrounding areas were faced with a blackout. Crews were on the scene to fix the issue, but at least 800 customers were left without power, and the surrounding roads were closed until further notice.
