Transformer explosion causes power outage
More than 1700 households were left without power in the Cambridgeport neighborhood of Harvard.

USA, Harvard: More than 1700 households were left without power in the Cambridgeport neighborhood of Harvard, according to an Eversource outage map. The outage was caused by a transformer explosion, which happened at around 3:26 pm on Tuesday.
The Harvard Crimson reported that power was to be restored in less than 2 hours. Firefighters from the Cambridge Fire Department responded to the explosion and fire fire at Pearl and Putnam shortly before 3:30 pm. The transformer, the pole, and all wiring, including phone, electrical, and cable lines, attached to it, were destroyed in the explosion.
