India, Telangana, Hyderabad: A major transformer explosion occurred near Marthanda Nagar in Hafeezpet, Miyapur, Hyderabad, on the night of 30 March 2026, reportedly due to heavy electrical load. The blast triggered a fire that spread to nearby vehicles, causing significant damage.
Two motorcycles and a Tata Ace mini truck parked close to the transformer were completely destroyed in the blaze. The Hyderabad Fire Department responded swiftly, extinguishing the fire and preventing any casualties. The incident caused panic among local residents, who rushed outdoors following the loud explosion.
Police and fire authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, with preliminary reports pointing to overloading as a key factor.
