USA, Texas, Waco: VanTran Transformers and MGM Transformers officially opened the doors to their new 40,000 m2 (430,000 sq ft) advanced manufacturing facility in Waco, marking a major leap forward in US energy infrastructure and domestic manufacturing.
At the grand opening ceremony, company executives, elected officials, and local leaders gathered with employees and community members to celebrate what many called a “transformative milestone” for Central Texas and the nation. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to generate more than $1 B in annual transformer production capacity and create 700 jobs over the next five years.
“This facility represents our shared vision of strengthening America’s grid resilience through innovation and domestic production,” said Ty Gayeski, President of VanTran Transformers. Doug Banty, CEO of MGM Transformers, emphasised the strategic impact: “We are reshoring critical infrastructure to support the electrification of everything, from EVs to data centers.”
The plant will serve high-demand sectors including renewables, utilities, and electric vehicle infrastructure. The ceremony also spotlighted Central Texas’ growing role as a manufacturing hub, with attendees touring the facility’s advanced production lines and meeting the engineers and workers powering its operations.
With this launch, VanTran and MGM are not only investing in cutting-edge technology but also in the long-term energy independence and resilience of the United States.
