India, Gujarat: Voltamp Transformers Ltd has started the construction of its new transformer manufacturing facility in Gujarat. All formalities related to acquisition of land have been completed and construction of the factory building has started at Jarod in Vadodara district, Gujarat. The facility has been planned in view of “promising demand scenario” in the transformer market over the next 7-10 years.

The facility will have an annual production of around 6000 MVA, in the first phase. It will roll out transformers of up to 250 MVA capacity, in the 220 kV class. The capacity might be expanded in the future if the market demands it. The company currently has two manufacturing units at Makarpura and Vadadla in Gujarat. The capital outlay for the new unit is around INR 200 crore ($22.8 million), to be financed through internal accruals.
